Since emigrating to the United States in 1986, Massimo has been performing and recording with numerous bands. After teaching privately for several years, he has now focused his energies on composing, arranging, and recording.
Describing his music and drumming style as “…an attempt to bring the listener’s awareness to a higher level…", he believes that his music is intended to fill those many musical voids that exist around us. He draws his inspiration mainly from surrealism, along with a basic, but critical ingredient: improvisation.
Massimo cites the Brecker Brothers, Dennis Chambers, Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham, Vinnie Colaiuta, Chick Corea, Larry Coryell, Salvador Dali, George Duke, M.C. Escher, Frank Frazetta, Steve Gadd, Jan Hammer, Herbie Hancock, Allan Holdsworth, Gary Husband, Keith Jarrett, Chaka Khan, Mahavishnu Orchestra, John McLaughlin, Jaco Pastorius, Return To Forever, Buddy Rich, Steps Ahead, Gino Vannelli, Narada Michael Walden, Weather Report, Lenny White, and Patrick Woodroffe as his primary artistic influences.
